Are You a “Mentalist” or Just Psychic? By Rev. Melissa Leath
There is quite a controversy going on already about the new CBS program that premiered Tuesday evening [September 23]. “THE MENTALIST,” starring Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, a private investigator who is assisting police, paints a completely different picture of mediums, psychics and the like, than some of the previous programming like “Medium” and James Van Praag’s “The Ghost Whisperer”.
The story line is about Patrick Jane having been a psychic medium in the past and now claims that there is no such thing. He has always been simply a mentalist.
That is someone who is very observant and uses the intake information to correlate suppositions. And he is extremely good at it. If fact, many unethical psychics or mediums use many of the same techniques he uses when giving a reading or session with a client.
Actually, many readers may not even know they are using those techniques, because they have not been trained properly in the spiritual medium ways.
I’ve been in this field for over 30 years, having been schooled in an old-fashioned spiritualist church. And I’ve seen the genuine medium and I’ve seen the faker too. In fact, I’ve seen a very gifted medium produce astounding evidence during a séance in the middle of the afternoon in broad daylight. Only to see him many years later, after abusing his gift for years, actually setting up a ‘fake’ séance.
So I understand what the private investigator is talking about in the program. And can see why he feels there is only trickery.
But I know better. I am a certified medium, and know what actually comes through from the spirit world. There is no mistaking it.
I’ll be sharing more information on this subject very soon and premiering a very special book so keep checking back for that introduction!
ARTICLE: Show Yourself Some Love, By Rev. Melissa Leath
Our Favorite Quote~~~
"There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist or to accept the responsibility for changing them." --Denis Waitley [motivational speaker]
Do you always put yourself down?
Almost always, we seem to hold others in our lives in high esteem. We applaud their efforts. We tell them, uncessingly, how wonderful and inventful they are.
But we hardly ever applaud ourselves. I think it is time to be 'self-ish'.
The better you think of yourself, the better you can be for your family, in your career, in your manifestations. How could you bring anything good into your life, if you are always putting yourself down?
Here's a short list of things to do to feel better about yourself:
When making lists of things that must be done, be sure include some small things that you have already done. You will automatically feel much more accomplished when you see some of the things already crossed off!
Fix the curtains in your bedroom so that the fresh, new rays of sunlight will trickle over your face at sunrise. It's a really special and enlightening feeling.
Admire yourself in the mirror. There is nothing vain about that. You look good.
Drink enough water to keep your inners as clean as your outers.
Make sure you take plenty of mini breaks during the day. There is nothing worse than being tired of what you are doing.
Plan to spend more time for yourself, doing things you have always wanted to do. Find some uplifting affirmations for yourself, and incorporate them into your life.
Love yourself! No one else can love an un-lovable person.
ARTICLE: How To Catch a Butterfly, By Rev. Melissa Leath
This may sound like a Biology Project from the eight grade class. But it actually is much easier than that. There are no difficult rules to this mission (such as, bring your biggest butterfly net and good running shoes). You already have come equipped with just the right stuff.
No, it isn’t the normal venture.
You don’t have to go to the nearby woods on a beautiful summer’s day. You don’t even have to plant special flowers that attract butterflies. It is not important to have sweet water to entice them.
Like I said, you already have the right stuff.
So, you say, what in the world do you have to do to catch a butterfly? Simply go outside, look up at the sky, put on the biggest smile you have and yell, “YES!”
A butterfly will land on your nose every time. Guaranteed!

ARTICLE: The Secret and Its Missing Link
By Rev. Melissa Leath
The Secret is a self-help documentary supporting the ancient teachings that what we think about creates our world. Just how true is that teaching? Nay-sayers are concerned with using ancient wisdom to acquire material goals. What doesn’t the documentary tell us?
How can we best use the Law?
• Just what is the Law of Attraction?
This universal law states ‘like attracts like’. On a deeper level it proves that everything in the universe is energy. Thought is a form of energy, so anything you focus on with strong emotional intent, feelings and concentration, you eventually will bring into your existence.
Therefore if you focus or energize your thoughts with pictures of poverty and lack, that is what you attract. If you concentrate your thoughts on health and well-being, by the law of attraction you must bring into existence health and well-being.
• Is The Secret dangerous, as the critics suggest?
It can be used for positive and negative. The Secret DVD does not tell us about being based in a spiritual foundation before purposely using the laws consciously.
The Law of Attraction works all the time, whether you have a good, moral understanding, or are a mean and evil person. But the more you have a strong discipline in spiritual ways and follow loving practices to grow your inner being, you will have greater command of the Universal Laws.
ARTICLE: Assisting the Healing Process,
By Melissa Leath
Creating a healthy lifestyle is probably the most important aspect to aiding the body to heal. We look for many different types of healing modalities expecting one of them to heal our bodies.
In reality, the body can heal itself. But we must do our part to create a healing environment for the body to have the resources it needs.
There are many suppliments, herbs, vitamins, and holistic health practitioners that can be incorporated to assist in healing. However, lifestyle, such as exercise, stress management and the way we treat our bodies is essential in our health regime.
Dr. Andrew Weil, in his Eight-Week Plan for Optimal Healing Power says, "A healthy lifestyle is the cornerstone of natural health and the best way to ensure that your body's healing system functions optimally."
Among others, Dr. Weil recommends adopting a certain protocol or program to follow each day. Slowly, start by clearing the pantry and refrigerator of food that does not compliment what you know is right for your body. Consider taking a walk each day, or do some kind of stretching or yoga. Look at what you may be lacking in your regular diet and check on what suppliments may enhance that area.
Last but not least, put into practice some form of stress release: Meditation, focus, contemplation, breathing exercises.
Taking all these things and putting them into your life can be very empowering, by themselves. But when you add them to a health program, your body will thank you.
